Summer is in full swing. On June 9, kids between grades 6 through 8 from an English speaking church (EFC) came to El Refugio for a week long camp. The camp was led by Dan Maloy, a missionary with HCJB. Many of the counselors were graduating homeschoolers. Nearly all the staff of El Refugio helped out with facilitating the kids through low and high ropes, as well and camp games and campfires.

Immediately following Jr. High Camp came the 8th grade class from Cotopaxi school for an overnight trip. This was truly an answer to prayer as the school had been banned from coming back to our property.

What had happened was some of our staff had shared their testimonies with some of the kids last time they were out here. Some of the teachers overheard this and thought that our staff were being too forceful (although they had been asked to share) about Christianity. After several meetings with the school's director and principals, Paul Reichert finally came to a compromise with them where we are allowed to share our faith if the students bring it up.

Please pray for these 8th graders as they had a good experience here. Pray that they ask questions and spread a positive view on what we do here.

Currently we have a team from the States here. They are a family group from Geneva in Illinois. Among the things they will do while here are reroofing a cabin, some painting, some VBS in a nearby town, visit the jungle, and other cultural exposure events.
