Brad has served as the Director of Expat Ministries and Intern
Director. In January 2006 he accepted the call to Team Leadership,
replacing Russ Cline as Team Leader. He has a Pastor's heart and is
encouraged to use his strong gift of shepherding in this role. His
passions include leading worship, college basketball, golf, The Packers,
coffee and his family. A native of North Dakota, Brad grew up on a
family farm/ranch near Minot. He attended North Dakota State University
and graduated from Lutheran Bible Institute (now Trinity Lutheran
College) in Issaquah, WA, with a Bachelor's Degree in Youth Ministry...a
LONG time ago! He served a church in Northern California in Youth
Ministry from 1984-1987 until called to serve in a church in Woodbury,
Minnesota, in 1987. He spent 13 years in this suburb of St.
Paul/Minneapolis until called to missions in 2000. Committed to Youth
Ministry as a life-time calling, Brad is grateful for the privilege of
learning and serving in Ecuador on a multi-cultural team.
Brad married Sandi (Broen) in the fall of 1984. Sandi grew up in
Camrose, Alberta, Canada. They met at Bible School (above) where she
received an AA in Biblical Studies before graduating from the University
of Calgary with a Bachelor of Social Work. The first three years of
their marriage she worked in a residential treatment facility for
adolescents. Sandi enjoyed serving the Lord in many different ways
through the local church while having the privilege of being a
stay-at-home mom of their two girls. After joining Youth World in 2001,
she served as the Coordinator of Short-term Teams until the Spring of
2004. Her passions are growing in the Lord, worship, movies, meeting
with women, administration and team care. She is thrilled to serve the
Lord in partnership with her husband supporting the incredible people
God has brought to Youth World. Playa Same is one of her favorite spots
in the world (a beach in Ecuador) where she loves to sit for hours and
read. Fiction first!
Sarah came to Ecuador with her family at the age of 12. After a tough
transition from the only home she knew in Minnesota, she fell in love
with Ecuador. She graduated from Alliance Academy International (AAI)
in 2006 and is currently a student at Azusa Pacific University in
Southern California. She is passionate for the Lord and dreams of
serving Him in medical missions somewhere in the world. She will return
to Ecuador to serve as a Quito Quest Intern in our Short-Term Department
summer 2007. Her passions are God, people, music, dancing, people,
being spontaneous, facebook, anatomy, people...get it??
Hannah came to Ecuador in 2nd grade when she was 7 years old. Soon
she will have spent half her life here! She is currently in 8th grade
at AAI. She loves hanging out with friends, helping people, singing,
chatting, basketball and acting. She dreams about building and running
an orphanage in Africa. She misses her sister but is doing OK being the
only child at home. She often reminds her parents that their youngest
will soon be in High School! Ugh!! How did that happen?
