Stories from El Refugio
IMPACT
The other day I sat down in the Youth World office with Franklin, a contact
from Anderson High School who brings a lot of groups to El Refugio. We were
meeting to talk about the coming year's retreats, scheduling and programming
options and that sort of business. As soon as we sat down, before we could
get to any of the "real" business Franklin began talking to me about the
impact of El Refugio on the student body of Anderson. He went on for nearly
half an hour, telling me the stories of students who had decided to come out
of the closet with their faith, or who had decided to repent of some sin in
their life. He even told me about a kid named Joel, who had come to accept
Christ this year, and had decided to return to his family, and that the trip
to El Refugio had been one of the turning points leading to that decision.
I was amazed, it was so encouraging to hear the stories, as many times we
don't get to see the fruits of our labor.
