Ministry highlights
We currently have ten boys living at the house. Eight of the boys have been a part of this ministry for nearly two years. The boys range in age from 10 to 17. All of the boys are attending school full time. Three of the older boys are employed. We have available individual leaflets for each child that includes a short biography, picture and personal prayer requests.
Meet Daniel (pictured), a 12 year old boy from the coast who was living on and off the streets for about three years before coming to Quito and getting connected to the Street Boys Ministry. His mother is very poor with other small children to care for. She has asked that Daniel be in the street kids ministry in order for him to get an education and to stay off the streets.
Daniel is doing very well in school. He has never completed a school year previously. He enjoys playing soccer whenever he can. He loves Jesus and prays diligently for his mother and sisters. Daniel nearly always has a smile on his face and is very outgoing. He is helpful and polite. And sometimes mischievous! He likes to play jokes and tease. Here he is enjoying playing on our son Jordan's scooter. An area that we are working on that is related to trust and survival, is his tendency to take food that is available and hide it for later.
Mike Acock, director of Kingdom Kids ministries in our home church in Columbia, MO is now working on connecting our church kids with the nations by the Kingdom Kids sponsoring Daniel and his family. A big thank you to he and all the KK kids!
Christian Fellowship of Jefferson City, MO highlighted the street kids during their first ever VBS!
Quito Quest teams purchased a washing machine, painted the walls with the kids and bought califones for hot water and an area heater for the living room!
Often, the boys themselves are ministering to those who came to serve them. They love to sing and dance, give testimonies and pray for the ones who come.
Our hope is that every individual will not just say, That was cool, then go on to help at the next place of ministry or back to their home, but will take seriously their responsibility as a member of the family of believers to pray for and connect with at least one of the boys in some way. These boys who had no family are seeing that God has made them a part of a VERY LARGE spiritual family.
