Santi Valdez:
An Update
Prayer
Letter # 04. May-July 2002
Our
6th National Youth Workers Convention
What did we do?
After months working and coordinating, we've put together again a single
training, refreshing and inspirational event for the youth workers in
Ecuador.
Why do
we do this?
Because youth work is a serious matter, full of demands and struggles.
Because youth workers in Latin America are 80% non-paid volunteers, and
we want to invest in them and to give them ideas. Because lonely churches
multiplicate and the youth workers in each are lonely too, and burning
out. Because most denominations, even large ones, do not have a youth
structure to maintain their own leaders.
Our Stats...
Pastors from 34 churches sent their leaders from 18 ecuatorian cities.
Observers from Perú, Bolivia & Chile came to recieve our vision
and copy our model. Youthworkers had 8 theoretical seminars to choose,
besides 8 practical-theoretical seminars, 5 main sessions, 5 mini-concerts
& daily devotional time.
What do
youth-workers say about us...
"Thanks for this event, because God has called me to grow in intimacy
with him, I feel encouraged to face this ministry; I've learned practical
tools for everyday work. I feel strengthen my human relationships with
my youth group, with other youthworkers and I've learn to rest on God's
hands".
- Please
continue praying for me.
